Intro to Handbuilding - 4 week course - Tuesday nights November 5, 12, 19, and 26th 6-8pm

In this course, students will learn the basics of hand-building with clay. No prior experience is required. Techniques such as slab building, pinching, coiling, and carving will be introduced. We will also learn how to use studio equipment such as the slab roller and extruder. With these techniques it is possible to build anything from vessels to sculptures and beyond.

This course will be taught by Emily Schamburek who is a potter who works out of her tiny in-home studio located in Riverwest, Milwaukee. When she’s not working with clay she nanny’s for two boys. She’s inspired by nature and colors that bring pops of joy to everyday life
