Artist Bianca Kim will be leading us in processing anger through craft and creation. We will be repurposing fabric to weave rag-rugs to be completed by each participant to bring home.
Participants are invited to bring in bedsheets or tshirts that carry heavy emotional attachment for the release and redirection of those attachments. Rage and anger are ideal feelings for this activity due to the intended use of the finished project to become a literal doormat, though all heavy feelings can join in during this workshop. Or participants can also choose from materials that Bianca will be bringing. We will be ripping and cutting our fabrics to make the material for the rug. We will then use very common, affordable materials to create a hand-sized needle with which we will loop and knot our now useable fiber resources into rugs.
Through this process, those willing to share stories about what emotions they seek to release will be invited to talk about them with all of us in this safe space. Bianca seeks to provide this workshop as a time to use this craft as therapy for processing emotions and to help build community.
